Typing is an essential part of modern life. Learning to type faster has many benefits, for example, it saves time, increases productivity, attracts employers and earns attention from colleagues. The following resources will help you learn typing fast for FREE.
Before we proceed with the resources, the first thing you need to know is where to place your finger on the keyboard. Here is a picture of the standard keyboard:
Your two thumbs should be placed on the space bar. Middle row of the keyboard is where the remaining fingers will rest and this is called the home position. The four fingers of your left hand should be placed on the letters A S D F, so your left pinky will be on A and the left index finger will be on F. The four fingers on the right hand should be placed on the keys J K L ;
The letter G will be pressed by your left hands index finger and H will be pressed by your right hand’s index finger. Similarly, the upper and lower letters will be pressed by fingers that have the closest reach. You will have to practice a lot before mastering typing. The first practice should be with repetitive letter only. For example, ffff jjjj kkkk dddd llll. This way, you will get used to pressing the keys with the correct fingers.
Initially, you can learn to type by looking at the keyboard. However, as you come to memorize where they keys are placed, it is better that you start typing without looking. This way, you will gain momentum and avoid losing focus of the task by constantly looking back and forth between the monitor and the keyboard.
After pressing a key, try bringing your fingers back to the home position. Practice, practice and practice some more. Typical typing course in schools lasts for about a week. The whole week goes in practice. Once the students come to know about the keys and the fingers to press with, they will improve on their own as time passes.
