Create a Windows 7 Password Reset Disk Before You Forget Your Password

forgotpasswordSo, you have come up with the perfect password. It’s massive, full of symbols, capital letters and numbers. No one can even come close to guessing it except you as you have written it down somewhere or have it etched in memory. Even if the password is not even that complicated the unthinkable is bound to happen. We are humans and we are meant to forget things.

Now, if you happen to forget your Windows 7 password, it’s a heck of a lot of work to recover it. Before that happens, it is a wise idea to create a Windows 7 Password Reset Disk. It’s very simple and will save you a  lot of time in the future if you happen to forget your password. The steps are given below.

Step 1: Collect a Removable Media
A removable media can be either a USB flash drive, CD, DVD or a Floppy Disk. An external hard drive may also work. However, an USB flash drive is the most ideal choice.

Step 2: Insert the Removable Media
Connect/Insert your choice of removable media to the computer.

Step 3: Open the Password Reset Disk Control Panel
Click on Start -> Control Panel -> User Accounts and Family Safety -> User Accounts -> From the left pane click on Create a password reset disk link

Step 4: Follow the instructions to complete the process.

Once you have created the password reset disk, ensure to keep it in a safe place. Trust me, it will be very handy after you return from a long vacation and have forgotten half of your passwords :).
