Recently, a friend of mine updated his WordPress blog template to the Astra theme, pro version. The theme is great but unfortunately, the comment box or form wasn’t showing up on his posts. This article discusses the solution which solved this problem and enabled the comment box on all his posts.
The comment feature is a very useful tool for webmasters. It allows them to collect feedback or questions from users. It’s a great way to engage and interact with visitors. If the comment box for your Astra Pro theme is missing, perform the following steps.
By default, some installations of WordPress may disable commenting on posts. This is very common for new WordPress installations. So, the first step is to ensure commenting is turned on for all posts. This can be done by logging into your WordPress Admin account and going to Settings > Discussion.
There are couple of things that need to be checked in these settings. The first one is to mark the check box for Allow people to submit comments on new posts. Also, if not required, uncheck the box for Users must be registered and logged in to comment.
Once you follow the above steps, commenting will be enabled for all new posts. If you already have a few posts published already, the box will still not appear. So, for that reason, we will now go to Step 2.
The easiest and the quickest way to turn on comments for already published posts is by using the Quick Edit function of WordPress. Using your WordPress Admin panel, go to Posts > All Posts. This will give you a list of all the posts, published and drafts.
Under each post, you will see the Quick Edit link. Click on the link to open the options for a quick edit. As you can see, the options appear within the same window without taking you to a new page. This allows for quick editing of the posts.
Look for Allow Comments checkbox. If you are not seeing the comment box, this box is likely unchecked. Check the box and click on Update.
Do the same for all posts which are not showing the comment box. Now, have a look at one of your posts and you should see the comment box showing up at the bottom.
