Outlook 2016 by default organizes emails in an inbox into Focused or Other tabs. Focused tab contains important emails whereas, the Other tab contains emails which are deemed as not too important. For example, emails coming from within an organization will go into Focused tab and the emails coming from an external source are likely to end up in Other tab. This article will discuss how to disable focused inbox in Outlook 2016.
The reason why a focused inbox maybe a nuisance is because often important emails may end up there. Personally, I hate to see my inbox saying I have unread mails whereas there is nothing unread in my inbox. That is because, by default, my inbox is in Focused tab and the unread emails are sitting in the Other tab. I have to manually switch between tabs to see the unread emails.
Unless you get hundreds of unnecessary emails everyday, turning off the focused inbox maybe a good thing.
Here are the steps to disable focused inbox in Outlook:
To enable focused inbox again, simply go back to the View tab and click on the Show Focused Inbox to enable it.
